Us Weekly’s What’s In My Bag Enters a New Era With Street Interviews

Us Weekly’s beloved What’s In My Bag feature is back and better than ever before.

For years, readers have loved the What’s In My Bag franchise — and now, Us is launching a new video series that will bring an even more intimate look at what celebs are carrying with them at all times.

Until now, What’s In My Bag has only lived in the pages of our magazine or been filmed inside Us’ New York City studio, but now we’re heading outside and anyone — including you — could be stopped on the street and asked to share what’s in your purse, tote, backpack or wallet. The series launched on Us’ YouTube channel and is currently featured on the site.

Take Alex Rodriguez, who recently opened up to Us exclusively about everything he stores in his Dagne Dover bag.

The interview took place in a casual setting — while out and about in New York City — where A-Rod was able to share his must-have items, including a photo of his daughters, Natasha and Ella, whom he shares with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, Look Optic Glasses and more.

Vanessa Hudgens, Demi Lovato, Jennifer Coolidge  and Kerry Washington are just a few of the incredible class of celebs who have dumped out the contents of their bags for Us over the years. And from the essentials to knicknacks, Us can’t wait to now see what our readers carry with them.

Lovato told Us in April that she wards away negative energy with a crystal inside her Acne Studios bucket bag. Hudgens, meanwhile, revealed in 2019 that her purse is always stocked with her drugstore essential: hydrocortisone.

“I’m allergic to so much stuff — I get hives all the time — so I always have that,” she confessed. As for beauty items, the High School Musical star said she always tries to carry a Joanna Vargas sheet mask and my Nurse Jamie roller. I love being that person on a plane with a face mask, rolling her face out,” she said with a laugh. “I think it’s hysterical.”

Coolidge, for her part, confessed in 2020 that she’s always prepared for a change of temperature, so she always has a “shawl” an arm’s length away, as well as a snack and her “bedazzled Mace” keychain. That same year, Washington told Us,  she keeps a special item from one of her most memorable roles ear her when she’s craving an extra boost.

“I have the rosary that my character wore in Django Unchained,” she revealed. “That’s only in there for special occasions, when I need extra powers from my ancestors.”
