Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams Donald Trump for ‘Absurd’ Taylor Swift Attacks

Marjorie Taylor Greene came to the defense of Taylor Swift following President Donald Trump’s recent attacks in the wake of her star-studded wedding to Travis Kelce.

“First of all, congratulations to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. I thought it was fantastic,” the former congresswoman said of the couple’s Madison Square Garden nuptials while appearing on the Tuesday, July 7, episode of The View. “I think it’s absolutely absurd for the 80-year-old president of the United States to attack one of the most popular musicians and talented women who’s so generous to her staff and takes care of them.”

Cohost Joy Behar interjected that Trump, 80, “thinks he’s more popular than her,” which led Green — now a reformed Trump supporter who had denounced his administration — to share some insight on why the president enjoys singling out Swift, 36.

“I think that’s why he’s always picking on her because he would like to be,” Green responded. “Her concerts turn out massive amounts of people, more so than, tragically, [Trump’s Great American State Fair]” in Washington, D.C.”

Donald Trump’s White House Admits to Trolling Media With Taylor Swift TikTok

Green and Behar were referring to Trump’s remarks about Swift earlier this week.

“It was announced about two days ago. The new numbers just came out. You know who the No. 1 person in TikTok is by far? Trump, me. I’m No. 1,” Trump claimed to reporters during a press conference on Monday, July 6 per the Economic Times. “Like, Taylor Swift was number 11. I’m No. 1 in TikTok by far.”

When asked by reporters if TikTok was negatively influencing users, Trump responded that his messages the platform have the opposite affect

“I’m saying all things like, ‘I love our country, we have to stop Communism,’” he alleged. “I was number one by a lot. So I guess, I don’t know, maybe they are bad, maybe they are not.”

The TikTok jab was not the only remark Trump made about Swift this month. When she and Kelce, 36, tied the knot on Friday, July 3, Trump seemingly had something to say about it. The official White House’s X account posted a parody of Swift and Kelce’s marriage announcement that was posted outside their venue, Madison Square Garden, in New York City.

After exchanging vows, digital billboards outside the arena read, “JusT&T Married.” Trump’s fake photo read “Trump is your president.”

“IT’S HAPPENED!!!” the caption read on the official White House post.

President Trump Shares Eras Tour-Themed Poster on Taylor Swift’s Wedding Day

Trump has been vocal about his disdain for Swift over the years. Most famously, the president declared that he “hated” the pop star after she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president back in 2024. (Trump ultimately beat Harris, who became the Democratic nominee after then-President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, in the election.)

“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” he wrote via Truth Social in September 2024.

Less than a year later, Trump threw more shade at Swift via Truth Social.

“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” he posted in May 2025.
