Netflix’s July 2026 documentary A Toxic Love Story breaks down how Ian Diaz and Angela Diaz tried to frame Michelle Hadley and accused her of stalking and harassing them. After Hadley was arrested and spent 88 days in jail, the couple’s plan fell through and investigators linked Ian and Angela to the scheme.
Hadley was then released from custody, and both Angela and Ian were eventually arrested for their involvement in the crime.

Where Is Angela Diaz Now?
After she was linked to the scheme of framing Hadley, Angela was arrested on January 6, 2017, and ultimately pleaded guilty to kidnapping, false imprisonment by menace, fraud or deceit, forgery, possession of a forged check over $950, perjury and grand theft, falsely reporting a crime to a police agency and falsely reporting a crime to a peace officer, according to ABC 7.

She was then sentenced to serve five years in prison in October 2017.
“Even while pleading guilty, Diaz showed no remorse, compassion, or empathy for the victim. We hope the resolution of this case brings some closure to Ms. Hadley so she can move forward in her life,” District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said during the sentencing hearing, per ABC 7.
Angela was released from prison in July 2020 and completed her parole on July 19, 2021, according to Oxygen.
She now lives a private life and moved out of California to another state. While Hadley participated in A Toxic Love Story, Angela opted to not share her side of the story in the documentary.
Angela and Ian have since divorced, and her current relationship status is unknown.

Hadley and Ian began dating in 2013, and they took a major step in their relationship when they bought a condo together. The pair ultimately split in August 2015, and Ian quickly moved on by marrying Angela in February 2016.
Ian and Angela claimed that they began receiving messages from an online account called “Lilithistruth” in May 2016, and they reported to police that they believed Hadley was the person sending them messages from the account.
After the couple reported the messages to the cops, Angela called 911 for a second time the following month and claimed that a man entered her garage and tried to rape her.

Hadley was arrested and charged with felony counts of attempted forcible rape and stalking, and she spent nearly three months in jail before investigators learned that Ian and Angela framed her so that she would give up her half of the condo that she bought during her relationship with Ian.
Hadley was released from custody and her charges were dropped in January 2017, while Angela was arrested that same month.

While Angela was quickly arrested, Ian wasn’t arrested until May 2021 on federal charges of cyberstalking, conspiracy to commit cyberstalking and perjury. He was found guilty on all counts in 2023. He is currently serving a 10 years and one month prison sentence at FMC Fort Worth.
