Dakota Johnson and MGK were enjoying a low-key first date when they were spotted at Taylor Swift’s apartment in New York City.
“They hit it off and wanted some privacy,” a source exclusively tells Us. “So, Dakota contacted Taylor, and Taylor said she wasn’t home, so they could use her place.”
The insider adds, “Apparently, Taylor lets her close friends use her place when she’s away.”
Us reached out to reps for Johnson, MGK and Swift for comment.
Johnson and MGK, both 36, were spotted at Swift’s Tribeca apartment on Friday, September 11, before heading to the actress’ hotel and, later, to Estela for dinner.

Though the pair’s connection is new, they have run in the same social circles. In October 2025, Johnson and rapper both attended the Vogue World: Hollywood event at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. More recently, they were both present at Madison Square Garden in NYC when Swift, also 36, tied the knot with Travis Kelce on July 3.
MGK and Johnson’s first official date comes after their respective splits from Megan Fox and Role Model.
MGK (real name Colson Baker) and Fox, 40, called it quits in November 2024 after dating on and off for about four years. The exes had gotten engaged in January 2022 but now have a rocky dynamic as they coparent their daughter, Saga, whom they welcomed in March 2025 after their split. (MGK is also a dad to daughter Casie, 17, from a previous relationship. Fox, meanwhile, shares sons Noah, 13, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, 10, with ex-husband Brian Austin Green.)
“They were on a good path and things have blown up again,” a source exclusively told Us in April. “They have been having so many disagreements and explosive fights. Their communication with each other has been terrible.”
The source added, “MGK has been trying hard to get back together with Megan, but she isn’t interested.”

Despite their turbulent split, MGK has publicly praised Fox as “the greatest partner to have had a child with, because she’s such a phenomenal mom.”
“We go back and forth on who [Saga] looks like. Last month, she looked exactly like me, and now she looks exactly like her,” he said on The Jennifer Hudson Show in September 2025.
Johnson, meanwhile, had been dating singer Role Model, 29, for seven months before People confirmed their split in August.
Prior to her romance with Role Model (real name Tucker Pillsbury), Johnson dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from October 2017 to June 2025.
Though Johnson has not publicly addressed her splits from either musician, she did share her top dating non-negotiable during a June 2025 interview on Today.
“Like, not an a**hole,” she quipped.
