Chrissy Metz confirmed that she hasn’t been asked to make a guest appearance on her This Is Us costar Justin Hartley‘s hit series Tracker — yet.
“It’s funny. Jon Huertas has directed. Sofia [Pernas], Justin’s wife has been on it. I have not got a call yet, Mr. Hartley,” Metz, 45, quipped during an exclusive interview with Us on Wednesday, September 16, while discussing her partnership with Ro.
Metz is still hoping she will get an offer in the future.
“Perhaps there’s just not a role written for me yet. We’ll see,” she teased. “I want to be a bad guy if that’s the case because Justin’s like the good bad guy.”

Hartley, 49, stars as Colter Shaw in the series, in which his character uses his particular skills and instincts to solve crimes by unearthing clues that police or families miss along the way.
Tracker is Hartley’s first show since he wrapped up his run on This Is Us. The hit NBC series, which ran from 2016 to 2022, focused on siblings Kevin (Hartley), Kate (Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) in addition to their parents, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore).
Before This Is Us came to an end, Hartley was already making moves — with the help of producer Ken Olin — with Tracker. Hartley not only stars on Tracker but is an executive producer, which has allowed him to reunite with several This Is Us costars already.

“We knew for years and years and years that that show was ending when it was ending. A lot of times you don’t get that opportunity. Things just happen and people go, ‘You are not doing it anymore,’” Hartley explained during an episode of Tommy DiDario’s “I’ve Never Said This Before” podcast in October 2024. “This was more like, ‘You have the opportunity to play this character for six years. It is going to be amazing. What a ride this guy is going to go on. Here is what his journey is going to be.’ I thought that project was remarkable to be a part of.”
Hartley was asked at the time whether viewers would see additional This Is Us cameos on Tracker, to which he replied, “I think we will.”
He continued: “We’ve all talked about [bringing the show back in some way]. I don’t know if there are plans to reboot it — I haven’t been involved yet — which is a whole other conversation. But I still keep in touch with all of those guys. They are all so great, they will be lifelong friends of mine. I love them all.”
In addition to Metz, Brown, 50, Moore, 42, Chris Sullivan and Ventimiglia, 49, have previously expressed an interest in making an appearance on Tracker. While speaking to Us, Metz reflected on the bond that the cast has built.
“Obviously, it completely changed my life in every single way. I was in Europe on vacation and there are people who are just discovering the show now, which is so cool. It’s a family that we’ve all created that I think is so special and will continue,” she gushed. “And I hope it does through the years. It’s going to hold up forever because it’s just one of those things that everybody could see themselves through. It’s like the blueprints of life. We don’t have a handbook but we’re all just trying to figure it out. Life on life’s terms.”
She continued: “I miss all my friends. We got to hang out every day for six years. I’m just so grateful that I had that experience. It’s changed me forever, obviously.”

Metz also took the opportunity to discuss how her healthy journey has evolved since she started using Ro, a GLP-1 medication commonly used for weight loss.
“I was skeptical for quite some time. I did a lot of extensive research, and for some time, it was really hard to access,” she recalled. “That was part of the reason that I loved Ro so much was that it was very convenient [and] literally arrives [at] your door. I love that you can chat with nurses and doctors on an app, no matter where you’re at.”
Metz called the experience “great,” adding, “I’ve had mild side effects — obviously very manageable — and have had some really great success. It’s just been, honestly, much better than I expected because, who knew? I was a skeptic for quite some time.”
According to Metz, her labs and blood work have both “significantly improved” since the doses.
“I feel just more mobile [and] I get better sleep,” she added. “I was able to do eight shows a week on Broadway, which is no small feat, which I think [was] a lot attributed to the inflammation that was decreased from the medication, and the food noise. I was obsessively thinking about food … and I didn’t think it would quiet that. I was like, ‘No, that’s just me.’ That’s been really instrumental in being able to progress in time and space. I’m like, ‘Oh, I have other things to think about and do and create and not obsess about food.’”
Metz concluded: “I think the most empowering [aspect] is that I really am doing it for myself and I’ve taken it upon myself to do the research, to really do it right and do it well, and that to me is empowering,” she stated. “I feel like once you are educated, the fear goes away. I think some people are on medications and they don’t fully know how to support it with a lifestyle change that comes with it. Yeah, that’s very empowering for me.”
