JT Barnett Addresses Sami Clarke Split After Less Than 1 Year of Marriage

JT Barnett is sharing his side of the story after splitting from influencer Sami Clarke after one year of marriage.

“Hate that I have to post a personal PSA today: Sam and I have not been together for a bit, she chose to step away. I love her,” Barnett wrote via his Instagram Story on Sunday, October 4. “There’s been no relational issues & no drifting apart… just her own feeling & intuition that she needed to leave.”

He continued, “I don’t agree with this & I didn’t want this. I know who I am, what I want, what I provided and what we were. Our life has been fulfilling, happy & happy.”

Barnett noted that he didn’t “want to share this” and he doesn’t “want to talk about it,” but because the pair have “lived a public life” he has no choice.

“This is a tragedy, I miss the person I love and this whole thing has been really fkn sad,” he concluded.

In a separate Instagram Story, Barnett explained that he planned to share “more about my work because it’s what I have been using this account for. Plus it’s been a great outlet and is something I genuinely enjoy. Appreciate all ur guys love & support.”

Clarke broke the news on Sunday that she and Barnett had called it quits.

“My life is shifting and I’m moving into a new chapter apart from JT,” Clarke wrote via her Instagram Story. “It’s truly hard to put into words how tough this feels, but I trust it’s the right step for me. I’ll forever be grateful for the love and memories we shared for these past eight years together. Thank you for giving us space and grace as we move through this new chapter.”

Barnett and Clarke tied the knot in November 2024 after initially meeting when he approached her via Instagram.

“He slid into my DMs after commenting on a photo of me getting baptized, and what started as a friendly exchange quickly turned into something more meaningful,” Clarke wrote on Shona Joy’s website after her wedding to Barnett. “At the time, he was playing hockey in Russia, and I was pursuing modeling. We kept in touch as friends for a year before finally meeting in person when he came to LA.”

In Clarke’s mind, meeting Barnett in person was “magical.” She explained that the duo “spent five hours on a rooftop, talking non-stop, and by the end of it, we both knew this was something special” and gushed that their first date “set the foundation for what has become the most beautiful partnership.”

When Barnett proposed to the content creator, Clarke shared that she was “completely surprised.”

“He worked with my management team to create a fake job offer I couldn’t refuse—a couples’ photoshoot for a brand,” she explained. “When I arrived at the shoot, he proposed! To make it even more special, he flew in both of our families to celebrate the moment with us. It was thoughtful, heartfelt, and so uniquely us — one of the best days of my life.”
