‘Bob’s Burgers’ Star Eugene Mirman Shares Update After Fiery Car Crash

Bob’s Burgers star Eugene Mirman returned to social media days after he was injured in a car accident.

Mirman, 51, took to Instagram on Friday, April 3, to share a photo of himself wearing a bandage around his wrist and on his finger as he held up a sign that read, “Life Is an Adventure.”

“Hello everyone,” the voice actor began. “Thank you so much for all the well wishes, love and kind messages from friends and strangers. I am extraordinarily thankful to the heroic people that pulled me from the car and to the warm, kind and talented staff at the hospital that cared for me and got me on the mend!”

Mirman continued, “I am thankful beyond words to be here and doing relatively alright, all things considered. I don’t have my phone, so haven’t been online much. I do not recommend my method of decreasing screen-time. If you’re a friend who sent a kind, loving message, you should know that it was hard to not respond with, ‘I’d love to be on your podcast.’ I love you all and please take care of yourselves, Eugene.”

Mirman’s spokesperson previously confirmed the actor’s involvement in a crash in Bedford, New Hampshire.

“Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” his rep told Us Weekly on Wednesday, April 1. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”

According to the New Hampshire Department of Safety, the single-vehicle crash took place on Tuesday, March 31. Mirman’s 2026 Lucid Gravity SUV hit a toll tower and burst into flames.

“While units were responding, a veteran State Trooper assigned to Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail came upon the crash, saw that the vehicle was actively on fire and observed the driver was still inside,” per a press release. “The driver was then pulled from the burning car through a window and brought to safety. Governor Kelly Ayotte, along with other witnesses at the scene, provided assistance to the Trooper.”

Authorities opted to protect the identity of the trooper “due to the nature of their position.”

Police confirmed at the time that the car accident was under investigation.

Elsewhere in the press release, officials commended the rescue efforts of those who helped after Mirman’s crash.

“Certainly, [rescue workers’] actions were heroic in what they did,” Colonel Mark B. Hall said. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

According to the colonel, Ayotte, 57, was one of the individuals who stepped in to help.

“[She] tried to assist in any way she could at the scene,” he told local station WCVB. “She wasn’t in harm’s way at any point, but she has a great deal of care for our citizens and tried to do what she could at the scene to provide assistance.”

In the aftermath of the accident, Ayotte wrote via X that she and her husband, Joseph Daley, were “praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured.”

Mirman is best known for his role as Gene Belcher on the Fox animated series Bob’s Burgers, voicing the character since January 2011. He welcomed son Oliver with late wife Katie Westfall-Tharp in 2016, four years before her death. Mirman married Therese Plaehn in 2023.
