Kevin Federline Reveals Sons Have Spoken to Britney Spears Since Book Release

Kevin Federline is sharing an update on where his sons stand with their mom,  Britney Spears, after the release of his memoir.

“We haven’t talked specifically, but I know that she’s talked to our sons, which is good,” Federline, 47, shared during a Monday, November 10, appearance on Talk Show Live. “I’m really hoping that through all this turmoil, through all of it, that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I see it, but it’s going to be a difficult road and it’s gonna take time.”

In his memoir, You Thought You Knew, Federline details his marriage to Spears and their divorce. (The pair were married from 2004 to 2007.)

The book also explores the distant relationship Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, have with their mom.

During his latest interview, Federline said his boys “are trying to find a way to mend a bond between their mom,” and he supports it.

“They absolutely love their mom, right? I mean, they always, always have, always will,” he shared. “It’s instilled in them. And I’ve always wanted for them to have a connection with their mom, the way I have with my mom.”

Before Federline’s book was released on October 21, Spears’ rep spoke out about the project.

“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” Spears’ rep said in a statement to Us on October 14. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.”

Spears’ rep added that the pop star “detailed her journey in her memoir,” The Woman in Me, which was published in 2023.

Federline seemingly addressed critics questioning why he would write such a personal book when his family continues to make headlines.

“I know that a lot of people think that this book hurts that situation, but we’ve done everything else,” Federline claimed. “We’ve tried every single thing. And when you’re dealing with a situation like this, if I have to be the bad guy and everybody has to hate me, well, so be it. I’ll do that for my kids to be able to have a relationship with their mother.”

Us has reached out to Spears’ rep for comment on Federline’s latest interview.

Britney Spears Worries Kevin Federline’s Book Will Build ‘Barrier’ With Sons

Ahead of the release of You Thought You Knew, Spears released a statement slamming Federline and his book.

“The constant gaslighting from [my] ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” the pop star wrote via X in October. “Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

Spears continued, “I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman [would] do the same.”
