Kim Kardashian’s Hopes for ‘All’s Fair’ and Bar Exam Success Don’t Age Well

Kim Kardashian expressed concerns that All’s Fair wouldn’t land with critics — and she wouldn’t pass the bar exam on the first try — just months before both happened.

During the Thursday, November 13, episode of The Kardashians, Kim, 45, reflected on the hard work that went into filming Ryan Murphy’s scripted legal drama.

“It is crazy that this journey is over. Here’s the thing with these shows, it is not guaranteed that it’s gonna be a hit,” she noted. “So you put your heart and soul and your time into something and it’s like, ‘What if it doesn’t hit?’ Then what was this for?”

Kim attempted to stay positive about All’s Fair.

“Obviously with everything in life, you got to take risks to get there but I have taken all the risks,” she continued. “I think doing a scripted show is more pressure. There’s definitely a judging meter of like, ‘You can act and you are a bad actress.’ Being on a reality show, you’re just living your life. … To get people to like a character is probably easier than to get people to like you for who you are.”

Despite holding out hope that All’s Fair would earn positive reviews, the Hulu series received overwhelmingly negative reviews when the first three episodes debuted in November. Kim poked fun at the commentary online as more installments continue to air.

“Kim is so happy with how much the fans love the show and it’s still No. 1 on Hulu [for the] third day,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “She has joked that this is actually getting more people to watch it. She’s incredibly driven and knows one project doesn’t define her.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Kim was asked about her preparation for the bar exam.

“I’m really excited to just have All’s Fair wrapped and behind me so that I can just dive right into studying and make that my No. 1 focus,” she shared. “I am feeling a little bit exhausted. My bar exam is just three months away.”

Kim admitted she was “not ready yet,” saying, “You feel like you don’t know anything and then it all clicks and then you feel like you don’t know it. It’s just the craziest, most emotional roller-coaster. I really do need to pass on the first try because I don’t have another few months I can give up. I studied nine hours a day, every day. I am feeling a little bit overwhelmed.”

After filming The Kardashians, Kim revealed she didn’t pass — yet.

“Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar,” she wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 8. “No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far.”

She added: “Falling short isn’t a failure — it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more. Let’s Go!!!!!!!!!”

New episodes of All’s Fair air Tuesdays and The Kardashians airs Thursdays on Hulu.
