A Celebrity Facialist’s Skincare Secrets for a Brighter, Youthful Eye Area

For celebrity aesthetician Jess Bowers — who has worked with numerous notable stars including Pamela Anderson — keeping it simple is the answer.

“Less is more has always been my approach to beauty,” she tells Us.

The NYC-based facialist is known for her fast, intuitive results, calming aggravated complexions and delivering a noticeable glow. Her minimalist, no-nonsense approach has earned her a loyal following seeking solutions for a range of skin concerns. The issue she’s hearing about most right now? The area around the eyes.

“The biggest complaints are dark circles, puffiness and eye bags,” she says, as well as “sagging and fine lines.” Bowers has a theory as to why the eye area is receiving more attention.

“For a while, the focus has been on achieving ‘glass skin’ or finding the best skincare routine in general, but not so much on the eyes,” she explains. “So even if your skin is glowing, discoloration, crepiness or visible volume loss can throw everything off.”

The age of clients coming to her with these trouble spots has gotten increasingly younger.

“For a while, it was people in their 30s and older. Now, I have clients in their early 20s asking about eye treatments,” she notes. “I think increased screen time plays a role. All that late-night doomscrolling can also contribute to more creasing from squinting, as well as side sleeping.”

When treating the eye area during her sessions, Bowers relies on a unique massage technique that uses an incredibly light touch to stimulate circulation.

“I focus on increasing blood flow in a way that mimics the circulatory boost you get from an ice bath,” she explains. “Then, I incorporate cryotherapy, which is the cherry on top.”

If you’re unable to visit Bowers in person at the intimate skin speakeasy where she practices in the West Village, don’t fret: she shared her easy-to-follow daily recommendations with Us for keeping the delicate eye area moisturized, smooth and refreshed all season.

And while skincare certainly plays a role, Bowers also swears by a few on-the-go tools she keeps in her purse for a well-rested appearance. Read all about it:

THINK BEYOND TOPICALS

BIOASTIN HAWAIIAN
Nutrex Hawaii

While Bowers stresses to always consult a doctor before beginning a new supplement, she praises BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin for its potent antioxidant properties that help boost the skin’s defense against UV-induced oxidative stress.

INSTANT FIX

Sonsie

One nonnegotiable in her routine is the Adapt Cream from Pamela Anderson’s clean, vegan skincare line, Sonsie. She applies it all over her face and neck, but especially loves the healthy, hydrated glow it gives her under-eyes.

Too much screen time and squinting in the sun? Bowers swears by Clarins Total Eye Lift, a sustainable product that’s formulated with organic white horehound to help combat the negative effects of blue light and organic horse chestnut escin to target dark circles.

SLEEP SAVIOR

SLIP
Slip

“One easy way to support the eye area is switching to a silk pillowcase or silk eye mask,” she says. “For side sleepers, it can help reduce creasing around the eyes.” Try Slip’s Pure Silk Pillowcase.
