Taylor Swift Shares Rare Childhood Footage to Celebrate ‘Toy Story 5’ Song

Taylor Swift is reliving her childhood.

The singer, 36, shared rare footage from her younger days via X and Instagram on Friday, June 5, to mark the release of her new song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.

In the playful clip, a young Swift can be seen rocking a cowboy hat and boots, as well as a denim skirt with red trimming, as she dances.

Swift’s new track, cowritten by regular collaborator Jack Antonoff, is a country song inspired by Toy Story character Jessie, a cowgirl first introduced in Toy Story 2.

“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once,” Swift wrote alongside the clip. “And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

Swift continued, “Thank you to the brilliant [director] Andrew Stanton for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film. Thank you to the incomparable [composer] @RandyNewman or the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores you’ve meticulously woven over the years. You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.

“By we, I mean myself and my pal @jackantonoff. We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods,” Swift added.

Swift announced that she had recorded an original song for the upcoming Disney-Pixar animation in an Instagram post on Monday, June 1, after several weeks of social media clues teased by the movie studio.
